Autumn Walks in Cork

Last time I gave you all a feast for your eyes with photos from the area I am from in America. Today I'm sharing a bit of Autumn in the area around our house. Branden and I managed to find a bit of time in our crazy week to go on a walk which was wonderful in the cold, crisp air.

We also found a bit of time to sing together. After discovering this song recently, Branden busted out his ukelele and learned to play this adorable song.

The verses are perfectly us even if the chorus isn't quite as much. Sure it would be nice to buy our parents homes in the South of France but getting rich isn't exactly something we look at as a goal. Yes we would love to have a house some day but we don't want a big one...someone has to clean it! Money can't buy you happiness, give you freedom, or make your marriage better. We've gone our entire marriage with hardly any of it and I think it's removed the clutter of unimportant stuff and kept us focused on what really matters, each other. We've never fought about money and it is true that some things would be a bit easier if we had a bit more at times, but I feel extremely blessed by our situation and how strong it's made our marriage. I may have loved Branden with all that I could on the day I married him, but it seems minuscule in comparison to how much I love him now, over 3 years later.

    1. I would imagine that Kansas would look about the same all year round, just with or without funnel clouds ;)

    1. Go for it! It also works out well that you will be sharing the cat circus video in March on your blog...I'll probably forget about it by then and be in awe all over again! ;)

  7. The colours this year are good. I don't remember them being that good in a while. I suspect it was the crappy summer caused the trees to have some sort of change. Mind you I expect the summer was good for them if not for us.
Those are across to the Sunday's Well from the Mardyke. They look good. Good to have the layering in the shots.

    1. Last year definitely wasn't as pretty so your theory about the crappy summer may be correct...although still not helping to make up for the fact that we had to live in that crappy summer! ;)
We walked through Fitzgerald Park on the first part of our walk and then took the trail along the river behind the Mardyke. It's nice to have good walking areas near your home.

  8. Where you are though you are especially lucky, for town walking at least. Heck if you had the legs for it you could head towards the dam and come back on the other bank. Be about 10mls to do the round.
If I had to live in Cork I think I'd try to find someplace at or near the sea. Kinsale or the east of the cove at Ballycotton.

  9. It can be a bit of a pain for getting to the major shops, but at least we aren't right in the center of town and have the wonderful walks around us. We do like to head up the river quite a ways, and even tried to the other night but the river flooded the path across from the old water works building.
When we lived in Edinburgh, we were about 20min walk from the center but about 2min walk from Holyrood park which we would do the 4 mile loop around on our walks.
If we had a car and Branden wasn't a student, then we would love to live in Kinsale. We've only been once but we loved it!

  10. I'm glad that you are both happy in your marriage Maggie. We never had much when we were first married either, but it teaches you the value of money when you start to get some. With luck you will always be wise with it - Dave

  12. Stunning photography...but your words are equally beautiful. It's good to be reminded of what really matters most in life.
