Branden wins

So my upcoming doom  birthday is on Saturday. Branden, because he's only turning 25 this year he's sweet and wonderful, has been trying to convince me for the past week that I can actually have fun and enjoy my birthday. He really wants to make it something special and I tried to explain that it's like a big pile of rhino poop and no matter how you dress it up, it's still rhino poop...28 piles actually. But since my husband is amazing, he found exactly what to do to make me squeal in glee: he planned for us to go to a wildlife park! I, unlike Paige Kellerman and Joshua, love zoos, animal parks, or just chasing the stray cats that run on my back garden wall. And you all really need to click on Paige's name because it takes you to a hilarious post she wrote about the horrors of the zoo, which usually would make me instantly befriend her and cry over the lack of love for such a magical place made me laugh my pretty little head off!

Anyway, I have a Street Pastor's meeting on Saturday morning, which I am really excited about and will be blogging about on my other site With a Meek Heart soon. Breakfast will be provided and I will get to meet up with our current team members, who are all amazing people, and others who may become part of our team. Branden has to work in the morning so we plan to get lunch afterwards then catching the train out to the wildlife park. It's on an island only a 15 min train ride away so I'm excited! We will come back and go out to dinner so it really pains me to say it should be a good day!

Tonight I have a big feast with a big group of my friends as we celebrate our friend Marcie's parents visiting from Mississippi! It will truly be a feast as Marcie's parents are cooking for us...you know how that Southern hospitality is! It will be a great night, even if we will be missing two very loved members of our 'group'. Marcie's husband Zack is away for business and Linda who is away in India right now, but she is having a good time and I can't wait to hear her stories when she comes back! We will already have plenty of stories from our other friends who will be giving us their tales from their recent trip to Siberia. It's amazing the places you can go when you follow God's call in your life..we wouldn't be here if we hadn't.

Last night, my fabulous American house mate took me out for a birthday drink since she will be gone over the weekend. She only got here a few weeks ago and she only has a couple of weeks left in the house but she has been a wonderful addition to the house. She even started a blog when she got here! You can check it out HERE. We went to a cozy little pub and had a nice time, enjoying good Irish beer and cider.

I posted on my other blog yesterday. It was a post I did for Janie (a private blogger and you can request access to her blog by emailing dumpedfirstwife@gmail.com) answering her question of "What is love and intimacy". Feel free to take a peek HERE. With Branden being so busy studying all the time, all I can think of for that question right now is this:

I miss my husband and I think that's probably why I'm so excited about Saturday. My birthday doesn't matter; I get to spend time with the man that means more to me than anyone else in the world...how could I not have a wonderful day?

  1. I'm just going to sit over here going "AWWWW" and pretending I didn't know it's your birthday on Saturday...

    1. I wonder how easy it would be to put candles in Cadbury eggs?? ;)

    2. Pretty easy, actually. Just make sure the eggs are room temp, and then you have to twist the candle like you're trying to screw it through the chocolate shell.

    3. ...sounds like you've done this before :)

    1. My dad was 2 years younger than my mom when they were married in 1930. They accused her of robbing the cradle. They had been married 50+ years when my mom died. It was the best marriage I ever saw--& good training for me!

    2. Thanks Fishducky! It's one of our engagement photos so it will be well known amongst our future kids and grandkids.
Wow, I would think that age difference in the 30's would be a bit of a shocker! What a wonderful gift your parents gave to you. Being a beautiful image of love and marriage is so important for your kids. And because of them, you are able to pass it on to your children and grandchildren :)

  3. Ok, I wanna tell you Happy Birthday, but I won't, cause it's not your birthday, who said anything about a birthday? Certainly not Maggie's. I hear she's forever both immortal and beautiful...

What I will say is Thank You for the blog love! I hope you have the best time with your visitors. I wish I could hop the ocean and come hang in Ireland with y'all, but the bank account balance is somewhere near 0.0000

    1. Hahahah, "forever both immortal and beautiful"! I will need to tattoo that on Branden's forehead so he never forgets it ;) I always tease though, that I never want to live past my 60's because I for sure will be senile by then!
I laughed myself to stitches over your zoo post so I HAD to share it! If only you could hang with us! I'm sure we would be up to no good and I would probably teach Butch and Sundance some less than desirable habits ;)

  4. I'm about to turn 40 young lady so 28 is very young! :) Your birthday is also my anniversary. Phil is 4 years younger than me and I always want to punch him in the rear when he starts fussing about how old he is. :)
Take care and have lots of fun Saturday. I wish I was going to the zoo with you. I LOVE THE ZOO!

    1. And I'm 41 turning 42 in June! Today I heard some scientist saying research among thousands of employers has shown that 40 is the new old. Thank you very much. I nearly drove off a cliff.

And as for that zoo thing, I happen to be living across one and I appreciate the noise the monkeys make so much more than the noises I'm forced to listen to when my downstairs neighbors engage in their weekly activities of the happy humping kind... :)

    2. Melynda, I know I'm not old but I do actually get concerned about how much older I'm getting in regards to when I'll get to have kids. Having kids in my 30's really does freak me out for some reason. As common as it is now days, it still has me nervous as anything. God just had to take care of it because I don't like to even think about it.
I hope you and butt punched Phil have a wonderful anniversary! I will have fun at the zoo...animals always make me happy!

RCB, for some reason I thought you were in your late 30s. It could just be your young, hip writing ;) How in the world is 40 the new old?? I thought 40 was the new 20! No driving off of cliffs, I would miss your blogging too much!
Hahahaha, you could be listening to loud monkey lovin all the time so it could be worse ;)

    3. But I am in my late 30s.... in my dreams I am... and in my young, hip writing. You know it! But it's okay to have dreams, don't you think, Padded Cell Princess? I mean, we need them. And as for 40 being the new old - it's true. Or so Mr and Ms Researcher, but I'm not listening. Which brings me to listening to loud monkey lovin'... You're right, it could be worse. The only thing is - I know now that my neighbor's called Robert on account of his girlfriend moaning his name all the time. I'm quite sure a monkey wouldn't share this info. :)

  5. Awwwww . . . this is so darn sweet that it's sweeter than Godiva chocolates. If you think 28 is doom, child, then think again. I'm 53. And thank you for the shout out. New members are welcome at Janie Junebug as long as they aren't Dr. X, Mrs. X, or Dr. X's girlfriends (poor new Mrs. X; she's probably still clueless). Enjoy your beloved Branden.

    Love,
    Janie

    1. Mmmmm, Godiva chocolates... I used to love the chocolate covered raspberry balls! My friend Marcie gave me a big Toblerone yesterday for my birthday (and I have no intention of sharing it with Branden...but he's too cute and I'll cave). You are a bit younger than my dad if that helps...but my dad was a bit of a cradle robber so you are a year older than my mom ;)
I hope you get new members at Janie Junebug! I am glad for peace's sake that you are private but I can imagine it would be a bit tough.
I will definitely enjoy my beloved Branden. We both had a bit of a breakdown yesterday as the strain of spending so much time away from each other has really got to us. We have no idea how we'll manage when he has to work a full time job! Coming from some pretty messed up past relationships, I'm just grateful that we want to spend all of our time together. I read about your days with Dr. X and it makes me think of how my future could have been if I hadn't walked away when I did.

  9. You're so cute. Don't stop having birthdays because you don't like the age you're turning. Of course, I say that cause I'm only 22, but still...enjoy EVERY year you get!

  10. I loved the end of this post. It was so sweet, and I'm stuck in "awe, that's so sweet" land right now. Welcome to the club. And the photo was fantastic.
    Happy Birthday!!!!!
At least your next birthday is not 44!
